SC grants permission to Monica to restart film career

The Supreme Court on Friday granted permission to Bollywood starlet Monica Bedi to restart her film career.

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Friday granted permission to Bollywood starlet Monica Bedi to restart her film career.

A Bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan said the actress needs to only inform the police about her film assignments before leaving her native Hoshiyarpur district in Punjab.

The Apex Court granted the permission after Monica submitted that the bail condition restraining her from leaving Hoshiyarpur was acting as hindrance to her film career.

She has claimed that a number of producers were offering her fresh film assignments particularly from Hyderabad and Mumbai.

Bedi was acquitted in a passport forgery case in Bhopal and granted bail in a similar case pending in Hyderabad by the Supreme Court which had asked her to remain in her village and not leave without permission.
