Supreme Court dismisses PIL seeking use of ballot papers in assembly, Lok Sabha polls

A bench headed by CJI Ranjan Gogoi did not agree with the contention of NGO 'Nyay Bhoomi' that electronic voting machines are capable of being misused.
The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed aPIL demanding a return to ballot papers from electronic voting machines (EVMs) in the forthcoming assembly polls and 2019 general election, saying no system was perfect. The PIL filed by advocate A. Subba Rao for NGO Nyaya Bhoomi, contended that EVMs could be misused and hence should not be used in the interest of conducting fair polls.
