NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed a PIL which claimed that the September 19 Jamia Nagar shootout was fake and warranted an independent probe.

A Bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan questioned the credentials of an NGO and its office bearers who had filed the petition.

The person, who claimed to have been heading the NGO, 'Real Cause', came under close scrutiny by the Bench which warned him of initiating an inquiry against him and his NGO.

The man, who made submission himself and could not be reached after the hearing, claimed that he was an eyewitness to the shootout, which according to him was fake. When the Bench wanted to know from him his profession, he said he also ran a security agency and intelligence people knew his credentials.

However, the Bench pulled him up, saying that he has not given any details about himself or about the NGO. "We really suspect your credentials. We can verify your antecedents and your NGO. What are the things you have been doing. Don't set yourself in trouble," the Bench said dismissing the PIL
