NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Wednesday directed educational institutions to register criminal cases against those indulging in ragging activities.
A Bench of Justices Arijit Pasayat and S H Kapadia also ordered the Central/State governments to forthwith constitute anti-ragging committees/squads to check the menace.
The Apex Court passed the directions while accepting the voluminous report submitted to the court today by the Raghavan Committee.
The Bench asked the Governments to immediately implement various recommendations made by the Committee in its report.
The Committee was earlier constituted by the Centre with the former CBI Director R K Raghavan, on the earlier directions of the Court.
The Court had passed the directions following a spate of deaths across the country due to the menace of ragging.
