Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud Wednesday agreed to list pleas challenging the abrogation of Article 370, which had conferred special status on Jammu and Kashmir.

The matter was mentioned before a division bench comprising the CJI and Justice P S Narasimha.

"We will examine and give a date," the CJI said, speaking for the bench.

The pleas were to come up for hearing after the Dussehra break, as ordered by former CJI U U Lalit. However, the same could not get listed.

More than 20 pleas challenging the Centre's move to abrogate Article 370 of the Constitution in August 2019 are pending before the Supreme Court.

Some of the pleas have been filed by former Air Vice Marshal Kapil Kak, Gopal Krishna Pillai, Hindal Tyabji, Dr Radha Kumar, General Ashok Mehta and others. By abrogating Article 370, the Centre had revoked the special status of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.
