Save the country: Artists appeal the Nation

NEW DELHI: A few hours after hundreds of people participated in a rally called, "Save the country" here, shouting slogans against the alleged anti-national activities in JNU, a group of over 30 eminent artists and writers have made an appeal to the nation to come together to "resist and fight anti-national forces that are breaking the country."

Among the signatories are Anupam Kher, Swapan Dasgupta, Bibek Debroy, Prasoon Joshi, Paresh Rawal, Udit Narayan, Subash Kashyap, Rajat Sharma and singers Roop Kumar Rathod and Sonali Rathod. Names of social worker Bimla Poddar, classical singer Chhannulal Mishra, academics Pushpesh Pant and Makarand Paranjape, writers Narendra Kohli, chitra Mudgal also figure in the list.

The appeal made to the people of the country says the present crisis is a conspiracy by anti national forces in the country who want to incite people and force the government to take action against them. Stating that the JNU incident is a "warning bell for an impending danger" and that the ones shouting anti India slogans could be as dangerous as Masood Azhar, the JeM mastermind.
