Saurav Ganguly Vs Mamata Banerjee in Bengal?

NEW DELHI: Speculation was rife on Wednesday that Saurav Ganguly may soon join BJP although the former Indian cricket captain told ET that BJP had approached him during Lok Sabha polls but no one had contacted him after that.

RPG Enterprises chairman Harsh Goenka had tweeted on Wednesday evening that Ganguly was headed to the saffron camp and that it would be a coup for BJP.

The party is locked in a fierce fight with Trinamool in Bengal and there were reports for a while that Ganguly was being wooed by BJP that is looking for a prominent face in Bengal.

A BJP leader involved with the party's campaign in Bengal claimed that the party was in touch with him. “But nothing can be confirmed yet,“ he said, adding that Goenka's tweet was not far off the mark. But Ganguly was unequivocal in his denial.

“There is no truth to this.They have not approached me. They did before the Lok Sabha elections but not now,“ he told ET.
