Satish Reddy, the Chairman of Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, has been appointed as the new chairman of the National Safety Council (NSC).

HYDERABAD: Satish Reddy, the Chairman of Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, has been appointed as the new chairman of the National Safety Council (NSC).

Reddy takes over as the chairman from Venu Srinivasan, who steered the workings of the Council since July 2011, a company release said today.

NSC is the apex body set up by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, to generate, develop and sustain a voluntary movement on safety, health and environment at the national level.

As a part of its mandate to make safety in India a way of life, the council conducts specialised courses and workshops across the nation, carries out safety audits and risk assessments, facilitates awareness camps in organisations, the release added.
