Satisfied with NRC updation process: Former Assam chief minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta

Guwahati: Former Assam chief minister and Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) leader Prafulla Kumar Mahanta expressed satisfaction over the final National Register of Citizens (NRC) published on Saturday.

Mahanta said, “We are happy that the process of NRC updation took place for it was not done for years despite being one of the commitments of the Assam Accord of 1985.”

Thanking Supreme Court for the updation of NRC of 1951, Mahanta said, “Due to Supreme court monitoring NRC became possible.”
