Sarbananda Sonowal elected leader of legislature party, invites Gogoi to swearing in ceremony

GUWAHATI: BJP legislature party on Sunday unanimously elected Sarbananda Sonowal leader of legislature party. Sonowal met Governor, P.B Acharya and staked claim for forming the government.

Allies Bodoland Peoples Front (BPF) and Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) extended letter of support to the Sonowal. Acharya said, “I have asked the chief minister designate to take oath on May 24.”

BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma said that by Monday the details of council of minister will be finalized.

There is thinking now that some minister may take oath on May 24 and expansion can take place later. The swearing ceremony which will take place in open ground in Guwahati will attended by Prime minister, Narendra Modi and several spiritual leaders including Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev.

Sonowal in legislature party meeting said, “Though I am elected leader I am among you and will continue to be with you. We will continue to work as family. People of Assam has open their hearts and voted for us and this is all they can do for us.”

Sonowal along with BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav met former chief minister Tarun Gogoi and invited Gogoi for the swearing in ceremony.
