Sarbananda Sonowal discusses progress of updation of NRC with Rajnath Singh
Assam NRC coordinator, Prateek Hajela, has submitted a status report where he submitted there were 3.21 crore applications of which around two crore have been verified.

Sonowal on Monday met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi and held discussions on several important issues.
Chief Minister Sonowal apprised the Union Home Minister about the progress of NRC updating process in the state.
Draft publication of NRC was scheduled to be published in December this year however now it seems that it is not possible for as authoritise has submitted before the Supreme court, which is monitoring the NRC process that they yet to come to a final decision regarding 1.23 crore applicants.

On the ongoing demand from several quarters on making public the framework agreement inked between NSCN-IM and government of India in 2015, Sonowal said that territorial integrity of Assam would not be compromised in view of Framework at any cost and the central government is committed to maintain peace and harmony in the Northeast region. Assam’s map would not be tampered and dignity of the people of the state would be upheld, he assured.
Congress party is organising series of protest in several areas of Upper Assam demanding disclosure of details of the agreement.
