GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal held an important meeting with the National Security Adviser Ajit Doval accompanied by Union Home Secretary Rajeev Mehrishi and senior officials of Union Ministry of Home Affairs at Assam Bhawan in New Delhi on Tuesday. He discussed the gamut of issues related to border security and Assam Accord implementation.

They also discussed the use of new technology for border security, process of NRC updation exercise to weed out the names of illegal immigrants, complete sealing of the porous Indo-Bangla border on a war footing including riverine areas.

During the discussion, possibility for opening new academic institutions under the Assam Accord was also taken up.
