Saradha scam: SFIO again grills Kunal Ghosh

NEW DELHI: The Serious Fraud Investigation Office ( SFIO) grilled suspended Trinamool Congress MP Kunal Ghosh for the third time today in connection with the Saradha chit fund scam in West Bengal.

"They asked me some questions. I answered it. I have tried my best to co-operate with the investigation," Ghosh, who was questioned for more than seven hours today, told PTI coming out of the probe agency's office.

Without providing specific details, the MP said he has submitted some documents to SFIO.

The agency has questioned Ghosh, who was the CEO of the Saradha media group, thrice with regard to this case.

The Saradha scam that defrauded lakhs of investors came to light in April and later the group's Chairman Sudipta Sen was arrested.

When asked whether he feels being victimised in the whole affair, Ghosh said: "I think that most probably I am the only living person under the open sky in this world who knows Sudipta Sen... So for that reason, investigators are liking me so much".

Without taking names, Ghosh wondered what happened to others related to the group.

"Now, I am facing the probe but what about those... I have never (been) connected with any other unit of Saradha. I have never attended seminars or conferences of that group. But where are those people who have attended and who have shared the stage with Sudipto Sen," he noted.

Ghosh had earlier threatened to disclose names if he was arrested in the scam and demanded an inquiry by his party, saying that he had much to tell the leadership.

Stressing that he was only a salaried person at the company, Ghosh said, "to me, Sudipta Sen was an owner and advertiser".

"Moreover, when the company was in trouble in February 2013, I gave loan to Sudipta Sen to disburse the salaries," he added.
