Saradha chit fund scam: Opposition’s scam allegations baseless, says Himanta Biswa Sarma
The Congress on Monday alleged that there has been no action from CBI in Assam in connection with the Saradha scam since the BJP came to power in the state in 2016.

“The frivolous & baseless campaign by @MamataOfficial Didi against me is very painful,” Sarma tweeted on Tuesday. “I am not fortunate enough like your police commissioner. I’ve joined the investigations and offered my full cooperation as a witness. And all this happened much before I joined @ BJP4India.”
Talking to reporters later in the day, Sarma said: “People know I am in no way connected with this. If by taking my name someone derives pleasure, then let it be so. I will be at peace if these people are happy.”
Sarma had in 2015 left Congress and joined BJP.
The Congress on Monday alleged that there has been no action from CBI in Assam in connection with the Saradha scam since the BJP came to power in the state in 2016.
“CBI is trying to hide and protect perpetrators of the chit fund scam in Assam,” senior Congress leader Pradyut Bordoloi had told reporters here on Monday. “The agency is no longer impartial and has become a puppet in the hand of BJP.”
