Sarabjit case: Hospital chain Fortis Healthcare offers free treatment
NEW DELHI: A prominent hospital chain today offered to provide free treatment to Sarabjit Singh, who is battling for his life in a Lahore hospital, in case India manages to bring him back to the country.

Col Harinder Singh Chahal, Regional Director (North), Fortis Healthcare, told PTI that the Mohali based multi- speciality unit of Fortis Group is ready to treat Sarabjit free of cost if the Indian government would bring him back for treatment.

"It would be logistically easy to shift the patient to Mohali hospital as its location is relatively closer to other major hospitals in the country," Chahal said.

Dr Amit Mandal, Head of the Critical Care unit, said the hospital is fully equipped to comprehensively treat critical cases like the one in Sarabjit's.

49-year-old Sarabjit is in comma and undergoing treatment at the Jinnah hospital in Lahore after he sustained several injuries, including a skull fracture, when prisoners attacked him in Kot Lakhpat Jail on Friday.

Meanwhile, Pakistan today said the "best possible care" is being given to Indian death row convict Sarabjit Singh - comatose in a Lahore hospital after a brutal assault - and that there are no plans to move him.
