Sanjeev Bhatt pleads with Supreme Court for SIT probe, accuses CBI of bias
NEW DELHI: Sacked Gujarat police officer Sanjeev Bhatt on Tuesday cited the CBI's decision not to appeal against the discharge of BJP chief Amit Shah in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh and Tulsiram Prajapati fake encounter cases to accuse the agency of bias. Bhatt has pleaded with the Supreme Court for setting up a SIT probe that he was victimised. Bhatt has demanded a probe into his ‘victimisation' for speaking up about the 'complicity' of the political establishment in the 2002 Gujarat riots and alleged fake encounters.

Bhatt also accused the police machinery of displaying bias and claimed that the state had destroyed all intelligence reports compiled during that period. These included log books on deployment of officers and vehicles, he said. Arguing Bhatt's case on Tuesday before a bench comprising Chief Justice HL Dattu and Arun Misra, Bhatt's counsel Indira Jaising said her client had faced 'institutional harassment.'
