Sanjay Dutt to appear before TADA court

Actor Sanjay Dutt, convicted by a special TADA court in the 1993 bomb blasts case for illegal possession of weapons, will appear before it on Saturday.

MUMBAI: Actor Sanjay Dutt, convicted by a special TADA court in the 1993 bomb blasts case for illegal possession of weapons, will appear before it on Saturday.

Sentenced to six years' rigorous imprisonment for illegal possession of a pistol and AK-56 assault rifle, Dutt had been summoned by the court to appear before it today.

The actor, who is out on interim bail granted by the Supreme Court, has to surrender when he is handed a copy of the judgement by the TADA court. He had spent a few weeks in jail prior to being granted bail.

The court had convicted 100 people, including Dutt, for their involvement in the 1993 serial blasts which killed 187 and injured over 700.

The other convicts in the trial have also been summoned by the TADA court to appear before it next week.
