Sanjay Dutt appointed Samajwadi Party general secy

Despite the Supreme Court barring Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt from contesting the Lok Sabha elections this year, the Samajwadi Party has gone ahead and appointed him the party national general secretary.

"Mein dil se kam karoonga aur sach ke liye kam karoonga (I will work with my heart and for the truth)," said Dutt.

On Wednesday, Dutt had blamed the Congress for his father's death. "My father died because of the Congress. They did not listen to him .... such a senior leader, and took Sanjay Nirupam in Congress the man who abused him when he was in Shiv Sena. He died because of that," Dutt told a news channel.

Dutt had also told reporters that he was threatened by a Union minister's aide of "dire consequences" if he joined the SP.

While Congress spokesperson Jayanthi Natarajan dismissed the charges as "completely baseless", Dutt said, "I will reveal everything at the appropriate time. No one can stop me from being with SP."
