Sangh Parivar condemns Mumbai terror, offer support to Govt

NAGPUR: Condemning the terror attacks in Mumbai where atleast 101 people were killed, the Sangh Parivar outfits -- Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Rashtra Sevika Samiti -- have offered their support to the state government in tackling the situation.

VHP leader Vyankesh Abdeo has also questioned the delay on part of Mumbai Police Commissioner Hasan Gafoor to reach the spot where ATS chief Hemant Karkare and two other senior officers have lost their lives in encounter.

VHP which had earlier raised doubts against Karkare who led the investigation against Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur and others in Malegaon blast case has now targetted Gafoor.

"Islamic terrorists have raised their ugly head during Gafoor's tenure. How come the terrorists drove away police vehicle and when caught why were they not handcuffed," Abdeo asked while talking to reporters here.

He also alleged that fishermen community in Colaba had informed police about unloading of some gunny bags but police remained a silent spectator.

The organisation has suspended its Sant Yatra which was in progress in various places.

Meanwhile, Rashtra Sevika Samiti president Shantakaa has condemned the attacks and offered tributes to the police martyrs', innocent citizens and foreign tourists.

Vidarbha Janandolan Samiti has also postponed its tomorrow's agitation.
