Samajwadi Party would file complaint with EC against Raut: Abu Azmi

MUMBAI: Samajwadi Party leader Abu Azmi today said his party would lodge a complaint with the Election Commission over Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut's controversial statement about disfranchisement of Muslims.

"Not only the MIM, but Shiv Sena too is indulging in venomous politics. Our party is going to lodge a complaint with the election commissioner, seeking action against Raut," said Azmi, the chief of Maharashtra unit of SP.

Raut's statement in an article in the Sena mouthpiece yesterday that voting rights of Muslims be taken away has stirred up a hornet's nest, inviting criticism from various quarters.
