NEW DELHI: The Samajwadi Party handed over its letter of support to the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government to the President, Pratibha Patil here today.

After meeting the President the party General Secretary Amar Singh said, "Though a letter of support was already given in 2004, the new letter was given to dispel all doubts about their stand."

"All 39 MPs are solidly behind the Party and will support the Nuclear Deal and the UPA Government in case of a trust vote," Singh said and also claimed the support of Baleswar Yadav, an independent member, who attended yesterday's Samjwadi Party meeting.

Earlier, the Government had said that it would approach the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board after going to the Parliament to seek the vote of confidence.

In the wake of Left's announcement of withdrawal of support to the UPA, a short session of the Parliament is likely to be convened to seek a vote of confidence.
