Samajwadi Party nominee files nomination for Rajya Sabha bypoll in UP

SP candidate Alok Tiwari today filed nomination for the by-election to one Rajya Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh.

LUCKNOW: SP candidate Alok Tiwari today filed nomination for the by-election to one Rajya Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh.

Alok, son of former Rajya Sabha member Brij Bhushan Tiwari, filed his nomination before returning officer Pradeep Dubey, in presence of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, Revenue Minister Ambika Chaudhary and some other senior leaders.

The bye-election has been necessitated following death of Alok's father. Brij Bhushan had died a day after taking oath as a Rajya Sabha member in April.
