LUCKNOW: The Samajwadi Party has launched an LCD book to serve as a propaganda tool among rural voters. Taking this sneaky, tech route will ensure that even after the model poll code has come into force, the gadget will likely remain in circulation, serving the purpose posters and banners won't.

Playing catch-up with BJP this poll season, SP is on a tech overdrive. Reaching out to those who don't have access to TV sets UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav is behind the LCD book innovation. These will be distributed across the state and nationally, to spread the SP message far and deep.

The red notebook, which bears Mulayam Singh Yadav's photograph and a map of UP, has the slogan Mann Se Hain Mulayam, Aur Iradey Loha Hain embossed on the cover.

When the user flips it open, the gadget fitted with a 2X4 inch screen plays out SP's 'mann se hain Mulayam' theme song with a video on the party's rallies and welfare schemes.

Though the party has refused to say how many LCD books will be distributed, it confirmed specific quantities will be allotted to each of the 80 Lok Sabha constituencies in Uttar Pradesh.
