Samajwadi Party demands dismissal of 'corrupt' Mayawati government

A delegation of SP leaders met UP Governor B L Joshi to demand immediate dismissal of the "corrupt" Mayawati government.

LUCKNOW: A delegation of Samajwadi Party leaders on Friday met Uttar Pradesh Governor B L Joshi to demand immediate dismissal of the "corrupt" Mayawati government and a CBI probe into the properties of the chief minister and her ministers.

Led by Leader of Oppositions in Vidhan Sabha and Vidhan Parishad, Shivpal Singh Yadav and Ahmed Hasan, the party handed over a memorandum stressing that the corrupt and undemocratic government be dismissed immediately.

They also demanded a CBI inquiry into the properties, including the 'benami' ones, amassed by the chief minister and state ministers.

Alleging that BSP has been running the government in an autocratic manner, the delegation said it had not been holding adequate number of sittings of the legislature.

Referring to the recent monsoon session, they said it was cut short to only four days as a result of which important issues could not be discussed.

The SP said that the House has not been convened for more than 21 days in any of the four years of BSP regime. This year there had been only 13 sittings.
