AHMEDABAD: Sadhvi Pragya Thakur on Tuesday visited Surat for the first time since she got bail in the Malegaon blast case last year. Thakur, who spent several years in jail before she was released on bail, continued her tirade against Congress and accused the party of putting Hindu religious leaders in jail when it was in power.

Saints were put behind bars so that the reign of “the lady who has come from Italy” may be established, she said in an apparent reference to ex-Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, calling her “Italy wali bai”.

On Monday, speaking on the Kathua rape and murder case, she said it was only a murder, but was turned into a rape controversy to entangle Hindus into it. Meanwhile, Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, the chief of the Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas, is visiting Ahmedabad next Monday.
