Sack Law Minister Salman Khurshid if he has threatened Arvind Kejriwal: CPI

Gurudas Dasgupta today said Salman Khurshid should be sacked if it is established that he threatened Kejriwal with dire consequences.

MUMBAI: Senior CPI leader Gurudas Dasgupta today said Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid should be sacked if it is established that he threatened activist politician Arvind Kejriwal with dire consequences.

Khurshid waded into another controversy by daring Kejriwal to protest in his constituency Farrukhabad in Uttar Pradesh and suggesting it would be hard to return from there, which was seen as a murder threat by the activist.

"I have been made the Law Minister and asked to work with the pen. I will work with the pen but also with blood," he said at a closed-door function in New Delhi last night whose footage was aired by some news channels.

"This is a language of criminals and not of a law minister," Dasgupta said, adding, if he (Khurshid) indeed has used such language then he should be sacked from the Union Cabinet.

Dasgupta advised Kejriwal to move the court, instead of going to the media, if he has sufficient evidence against the Minister, whose UP-based NGO has been accused of committing irregularities.

"If he has enough evidence, why is he not moving the court. Addressing press conferences every now and then is unjustifiable," he said.
