Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar said on Saturday that the genesis of Narendra Modi government's slogan of "sabka saath, sabka vikas, sabka vishwas, sabka prayas" lies in Gandhian thought that has the welfare of the weakest sections at its core. He also rued that unlike Mahatma Gandhi, who never rejected any thought outrightly, there are many today who cannot tolerate a different point of view.

Speaking on the 90th foundation day of Harijan Sevak Sangh which was formed by Mahatma Gandhi in 1932 to fight untouchability and end caste discrimination, Dhankar said Gandhian thought is highly relevant today for the entire world in dealing with various challenges facing them.

"The slogan of 'sabka saath, sabka vikas, sabka vishwas, sabka prayas' has emerged from Gandhian ideals. It is not political. It is a national commitment," Dhankar said.

The Vice President also emphasised on the need for more tolerance towards views that are different from one's own.
