HYDERABAD: Industrialist and Trimex Group chairman Koneru Prasad, arrested by CBI in connection with alleged irregularities in the APIIC-Emaar Properties land deal, today surrendered before a local court after his pilgrimage to Sabarimala and was sent to judicial custody till December 2.

Prasad, who is also the promoter of Stylish Homes Real Estate Pvt Ltd, was arrested by the central agency on November 3 and the Special Court for CBI cases had granted him interim bail on November 15 to enable him to visit Sabarimala to complete his 'Ayyappa deeksha'.

While remanding Prasad to judicial custody till December 2, the court had directed the Chanchalguda Jail authorities to produce him before it on the same day. But Prasad's counsel, in the meanwhile, had moved a application before the court seeking special category prisoner status to his client.

The matter is likely to come up tomorrow.
