AHMEDABAD: Replying to India's first innings 76, South Africa declared on their overnight score of 494 for 7 on the third day of the second cricket Test here on Saturday.

South Africa were leading by 418 runs when rain stopped the play in the third session yesterday with 12.4 overs still remaining to be bowled.

The start of the third day's play was delayed by half an hour due to due to dampness in the square surrounding the wicket.

The play was to begin at 9 am, half an hour earlier than the scheduled time, to make up for lost time last evening due to unseasonal rains.
