S Jaishankar has conveyed to Pakistan India's commitment to resolve all issues: Government
NEW DELHI: Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar has conveyed to Pakistan India's committment to resolve all issues within framework of Simla pact and Lahore Declaration if there was an environment free from terror and violence, during his trip to Islamabad two weeks back, government said today.

Minister of State for External Affairs V K Singh, replying to a question, said Jaishankar, during talks with his Pakistani counterpart Aizaz Chaudhary, also raised India's concern over cross-border terrorism and lack of progress in the 26/11 Mumbai attack case.

Jaishankar had visited Pakistan on March 3 as part of his " SAARC yatra" during which he held extensive talks with Chaudhary besides calling on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his Advisor on Foreign Affairs and National Security Sartaj Aziz.

Singh said Pakistan was called upon to maintain peace and tranquility along the International Border and respect the sanctity of the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir.

"The talks between the two Foreign Secretaries were held in a constructive and positive atmosphere. Government, will however, continue to monitor all activities that have a bearing on India's national security and on the safety and security of our people," the Minister said.

The Lahore Declaration was signed after the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's summit meeting with Sharif in 1999 while Simla Agreement was signed between the two countries in 1972.

Replying to a separate question, Singh said government continued to convey its concerns to the interlocutors, including those from the US, over continuing acts of cross- border terrorism emanating from Pakistan.

To another question, he said both India and China have agreed to maintain the momentum of high-level exchanges and deepen cooperation with a determination to add new content and substance to the relationship.
