The voters of Uttara Kannada constituency should question themselves about the conduct of their elected representative, Deshpande said in a statement.
Revenue Minister RV Deshpande on Thursday demanded an apology from Union Minister Ananthkumar Hegde for making offensive remarks on AICC president Rahul Gandhi and KPCC president Dinesh Gundurao.

Hegde had said Gandhi was an unknown hybrid breed and Rao eloped with a Muslim girl.

The voters of Uttara Kannada constituency should question themselves about the conduct of their elected representative, Deshpande said in a statement.

``Being the Union Minister, it is his foremost duty to protect the ideology of Indian constitution and it’s spirit of secularism. But, it is unfortunate to state that a Union Minister himself is against to Indian Constitutional ideology and a real threat to country’s secularism and unity, " he said.

``Though Hegde is elected to parliament five terms, he does not know what the development means. When election comes, he oftenly uses religious issues to demean opponents as he has nothing substantial to say," the minister said.
