Russian FM, US envoys to visit India next week
NEW DELHI: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and senior US officials including Deputy NSA and Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Alice Wells will be in Delhi next week for talks with Indian officials.

Lavrov is on a key visit to India to meet his counterpart ahead of five planned meetings between PM Narendra Modi and President Vladimir Putin this year, and will be among the star attractions for the Raisina Dialogue.

The escalating tensions in the Gulf region in India’s Western neighbourhood, where Russia also has huge stake, will figure during Lavrov’s meetings here, the people cited earlier said.

While Deputy NSA Matthew Pottinger from US will speak at a panel in the Raisina Dialogue, Wells will be here between January 15 and 18 to also attend it.

“She will also meet with senior government officials to advance US-India strategic global partnership following the success of the 2019 US-India 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue,” according to a US State Department release.
