Russian bahu and her in-laws reconciled after Sushma Swaraj's intervention

AGRA: The high drama 'saas-bahu' woes involving Russian national Olga Efimenkova ended on a happy note after Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj intervened and asked CM Akhilesh Yadav to resolve the matter as it was affecting the country's image.

On Sunday night, Swaraj retweeted the UP CM office's image showing Olga Efimenkova reconciled with her mother-in-law Nirmala Chandel.

In her message, the minister thanked CM Akhilesh Yadav for helping to resolve the matter, where the Russian woman had sat on indefinite hunger strike along with her three-year-old daughter Dasha and husband Vikrant Singh Chandel, after they were allegedly kicked out of their home by their in-laws.

As per highly placed sources in Agra administration, district magistrate Pankaj Kumar and senior superintendent of police of Agra Preetinder Singh went to the victim's home in Indripuri, New Agra where she was on protest against her in-laws.

The officials sat for hours with the family and counselled them to resolve the matter.

However, the FIR lodged by Olga Efimenkova against four in-laws including Nirmala Chandel (mother-in-law), Rajendra Milan (maternal-father-in-law), Soumya Pal (sister-in-law) and Sapna Melhotra (maternal-sister-in-law) was yet to be withdrawn.

According to SSP Preetinder Singh, "Olga is now putting up with brother-in-law's family along with her husband and daughter."

Earlier, Olga had registered an FIR against in-laws under IPC section 498 A (relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) and 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace).
