Rural Gujarat to be connected with Broadband by 2008-09
All villages of Gujarat will have Broadband services during the financial year 2008-09, which began on April first, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited Gujarat Circle Chief General Manager Satyapal said.
Talking to reporters after releasing the new Telephone Directory of Baroda Telecom Circle here today, Satyapal said that they have been penetrating rural areas with Broadband services in a big way.
BSNL has more than 1.35 lakh Broadband customers in urban areas of the state and have also embarked on a huge expansion programme.
One lakh additional connections of Broadband will be given during the year. Multiple services over Broadband connections have already been launched.
Through a single connection, customers will have the freedom to talk, surf internet and watch cable TV or video simultaneously.
Facilities like online gaming also available over Broadband. "Internet can also be accessed through our Netone post-paid and Sancharnet pre-paid services," he said.
By launching various plans/schemes under BSNL's Mobile services-Cell One, Excel, Basant Bahar, Jodi Kamalki, GoG 45 services, reactivating closed Sims and conversing post-paid services into pre-paid, customers' base of BSNL has gone up to one million in Gujarat.
During this financial year, one million more mobile connections will be given in the state, he said.
