Rupesh Gowala to contest from Doom Dooma on BJP ticket, Paramananda Rajbongshi from Sipajhar

General secretary of Rupesh Gowala Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangh (ACMS) Rupesh Gowala will be BJP’s candidate from Doom Dooma.

Former Assam Sahitya Sabha president Paramananda Rajbongshi will contest on BJP’s ticket from Sipajhar.

Gowala left Congress and joined BJP on Saturday. Rajbonshi had resigned from Asom Gana Parishad (AGP).


Assam BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass while welcoming them to BJP declared their candidature.

There was tough fight for tea tribe dominated Doom Dooma seat as there were several aspirants for the Saffron party’s ticket.

Gowala has unsuccessfully contested from Doom Dooma on 2011 assembly polls on Congress ticket and had sought Congress ticket for the 2021 polls. In 2016 Congress had won the seat.

Congress is yet to announce its list of candidates.
