NEW DELHI: BJP has decided on greater role for actor-turned-politician Rupa Ganguly, who joined the party earlier this year, as it prepares for next year's assembly election in West Bengal. Ganguly is likely to get a party post in the state unit soon, as BJP lacks popular faces in the state. "She is a senior party leader and will be given a responsible position in the party for the elections," BJP national secretary and co-in-charge for the West Bengal Siddharth Nath Singh said on Monday.

The BJP's line of attack in Bengal is that the ruling " Trinamool Congress and the Left Front have a tacit understanding as both parties have taken the same line against the BJP government at the Centre on intolerance," said Singh. BJP plans to campaign saying "a vote for the Left will be a vote for the TMC."

The CPM-led Left front is the main opposition to TMC in the state.

With the winter session of Parliament coming up, both Trinamool Congress and the Left are preparing to attack the government on the issue of intolerance.
