Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is set to carry out its outreach with industry leaders and economists amid the ongoing negotiations on a trade deal with the US.

RSS leader Sunil Ambekar is likely to allay any concerns regarding the current negotiations with the US and will likely interact with industry leaders and economists from the agriculture sector in the coming days in a roundtable meeting, sources said.

The roundtable, to be hosted by the Centre of Policy Research and Governance (CPRG), will focus on the agriculture sector in wake of the India and US trade negotiations. Agriculture and dairy are the crucial sectors of trade negotiations between the two countries as New Delhi eyes to protect its domestic farmers and dairy players.

CPRG has, so far, organised a roundtable each in Mumbai and Delhi over various sectors that are likely to be impacted by the trade deal. After interacting with industry experts in Mumbai last month, including National Stock Exchange MD and CEO Ashish Chauhan, Ambekar said, "India has welcomed international trade, but it's now vital to assert our interests with clarity and strength. It is right to strategically negotiate our trade positions in line with our national priorities."

Echoing similar sentiments, while interacting with some other industry leaders and economists here recently, Ambekar highlighted India's growing economic leverage at the global stage and asserted the need to engage with the world from a position of strength rather than dependence.
