"Linking all kinds of crimes, from attacks on churches to murders and rapes, to a particular ideology is another ploy of this disruptive strategy," it said.
Opposition parties have blamed Hindutva outfits for the several incidents of attacks on churches since Narendra Modi government assumed office. A nun was also recently raped in West Bengal.
Noting the controversy over alleged snooping of Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi and JD(U) President Sharad Yadav's "sexist" remarks against women, it said these developments diverted the attention from crucial issues.
"Making issues out of non-issues is another strategy adoped by the opposition led by Congress. It ganged up under the leadership of the dying Congress to stall the proceedings (of Parliament)," the editorial said.
The BJP-led government has been criticised by Muslim and Christian groups for not doing enough to check these crimes.
