Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, backed by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), is all set to highlight the stories of Scheduled Tribe (ST) warriors who had to face brualities in medieval India by Muslim rulers and the British regime. The initiative is part of the ongoing Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. A delegation from the organisation recently met President Droupadi Murmu and also spoke of the initiative, ET has learnt.

The delegation also presented the latest edition of the organisation's monthly magazine Van Bandhu to Murmu. It has the stories of 89 tribal warriors such as Rana Punja Bhil, Rani Durgavati, Sinagi Dai and Kaili Dai who fought invading armies of Muslim rulers. It also tells the stories of Tilka Majhi, Kumram Bhim, Budhu Bhagat, Sidhu Kanhu and many others who fought against the British regime. There is also a list being drawn up to build memorials across the country that witnessed major tribal uprisings.
