RSS asks Muslims to condemn stone pelting

SRINAGAR: The RSS has urged the Muslim community to unanimously condemn stone pelting which they claim was ‘un-Islamic’ and unconstitutional rather than be suspicious of its own training camps where women were taught self-defence to protect their honour.

The Hindu nationalist organisation stated that the return of stone pelters to streets and unfurling of Pakistani flags, despite PDP-BJP government’s amnesty, should be a major concern for all.

Earlier this week, photographs and reports of women with daggers being given arms training in an RSS associated camp in Jammu triggered widespread political reaction across the state.

This coincided with PDP-BJP coalition’s decision to announce withdrawal of 104 cases of stone pelting of year 2008-09, involving 634 personsHowever, stone pelting incidents were reported across Kashmir Valley on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr.

“Muslims and Islam at a larger level should unanimously condemn stone pelting. Does Islam allow all this?” a senior RSS functionary, Indresh Kumar, told ET.

Should these stone pelters not thank J&K government for being hugely pardoned for their sins, asked Kumar, who is also ‘margdarshak’ of Muslim Rashtriya Manch, a party floated to reach out to the minority community across India.

“Terrorist training and self-defence are completely different things. Self-defence training is allowed as per our Constitution. If it was not so, the government would have taken action in any part of India,” said Kumar.

Terrorists clandestinely impart training and harm nation, which, Kumar said, was not only ‘treason as per the constitution’ but also ‘illegal as per Islam.’
