NEW DELHI: The RSS has advocated curbs on commercialisation of education and price controls in the health sector, while appealing to the ‘charitable and philanthropic spirit’ of the private sector to expand access to affordable and quality education and health services.

Exhortations to this effect were made in two separate resolutions passed by the RSS during the just-concluded three-day conclave in Nagaur. This could be a mixed bag for the private sector which has made substantial inroads into both sectors to meet the rising aspirations and demand in the sectors.

"There is a need to curb rising commercialisation of the education sector so that pupils are not compelled to acquire education at unaffordable costs," read the resolution adopted by the RSS that demanded "allocating adequate resources and formulating appropriate policies" from the government in the education sector.

"To bring medicines within the reach of common people, promotion of generic medicines, effective control of drug prices and making patents regime humane is necessary," the RSS resolution reads.
