RS stalled over Beni Prasad Verma's remarks
NEW DELHI: Union Minister Beni Prasad Verma's remarks against SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav stalled proceedings in the Rajya Sabha today with party members demanding his resignation, forcing adjournment of the House for an hour.

The matter was raised during the post-lunch sitting by Naresh Agarwal who insisted that the Prime Minister make a statement in the House.

"Beni Prasad Verma's heart is hollow. Should we presume that Congress' mind has also become hollow?" he asked as other members from his party joined him in opposing Verma and demanding an apology for remarks alleging that Yadav had "terrorist links".

They also trooped into the Well along with Agarwal and Ram Gopal Yadav, shouting slogans such as "Beni Verma maafi mango, Beni Verma istifa do" (Beni Verma tender apology, Beni Verma resign).

Amid slogan shouting, the Chair adjourned the House till 3 PM.
