CHANDIGARH: Haryana Minister of State for Cooperation, Manish Kumar Grover said that about Rs 82.50 crore would be spent on the ethanol plant being set up in Cooperative Sugar Mill Shahabad.

The minister said that the plant would be made functional by the next year. It would generate income of about Rs 12 crore to Rs 15 crore every year and in about six years, the mill would complete the cost of the project with its resources.

He said that a 24 MW power plant had already been set up in the Shahabad Cooperative Sugar Mill. Now, with the setting up of the ethanol plant, the income of the mill would increase, which would also benefit the farmers of the area. The plant would utilise the waste material generated by the mill.

He said that the Detailed Project Report and DNIT for the ethanol plant have been got prepared from National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories Limited, New Delhi. These have been sent to Haryana State Federation of Cooperative Sugar Mills Ltd for further action.
