Rs 4-crore tax evasion unearthed during raid on confectionaries

INDORE: Commercial Tax department sleuths have detected tax evasion of nearly Rs 4 crore following raids on five confectionaries in the Sanwer Road industrial area, an official said here today.

Commercial Tax department's anti-evasion squad head, Dharmpal Sharma, said that the raids, in which 40 officers took part, began yesterday and concluded today.

He said that tax evasion to the tune of Rs 4 crore was detected upon examination of the stocks and records of the confectionaries in question.

Sharma said his department realised Rs 1,75,65,000 in cheques from the confectionaries as penalty for their tax evasion.
