West Bengal Sports Minister Madan Mitra today said the state government have proposed a revamp plan for the Yuba Bharati Krirangan that will cost to the tune of Rs 30 crore.

KOLKATA: West Bengal Sports Minister Madan Mitra today said the state government have proposed a revamp plan for the Yuba Bharati Krirangan that will cost to the tune of Rs 30 crore.

The make-over plan of the 120,000-capacity stadium lying in a state of disarray include three academies in the campus, a training centre, a swimming pool, an air-strip nearby plus complete overhaul of the seats and installation of a digital scoreboard.

"It will be developed on a public, private and partnership (PPP) model which will cost about Rs 25-30 crore. The tendering process will be done electronically and the proposal has been sent to the chief minister," Mitra told reporters at the Writer's building.

As per plan there will be an artificial hockey turf and three academies for badminton, volleyball and hockey, including training centre, Mitra said.

"A modern swimming pool will also come up inside the Yuba Bharati Krirangan. We have also plans to change the seats and put up a digital scoreboard inside the venue."

Mitra said they were considering to set up an air-strip in the adjoining area.
