NEW DELHI: Rajya Sabha MPs will get to stay in new 4-bedroom flats, each costing Rs 2 crore, under a housing project whose foundation stone was today laid by Vice-President Mohammad Hamid Ansari.

There will be a total 14 flats, 28 servant quarters, a common reception hall and a gym beside other facilities which will come up on a 0.6 acre land on Talkatora Road.

Apart from the Constitution Club, this will be the first gym in a complex meant for MPs.

The building will be seven-storeyed and each storey will have two flats while a flat will have four bedrooms, drawing room, dining room and a kitchen.

The construction work will begin from October and it will take 16 months to complete the new complex for MPs. The flat is being designed keeping the current requirement of the MPs, said a senior Urban Development Ministry official.

The official further said a spacious common hall will be part of the new block as MPs are expected to meet a large number of people from their constituencies.
