Rs 2.35 crore new notes seized from pan shop owner in Assam

As per cops, someone might have parked the money with the accused.
GUWAHAI: In a joint raid by Police and Income Tax department an amount of Rs 2.35 Crore in new Rs. 2000 and Rs.500 denominations was recovered from a businessman in Assam’s Nagaon district.

A senior Income tax official told ET, “House of Amulya Das in Nagaon was raided based on specific information. We have seized new currencies of Rs. 2000 and Rs. 500 denominations.”

Amulya Das and his son Tapan Das were involved in retail business of cigarette, Pan Masala, Gutka, Bidi etc. The family has recently promoted a hotel in the town.


“We are investigating the case. There is chances that someone might have parked the money with Das,” the official added.
