Rs 153.28 crore recovered from Haryana Panchayat poll candidates

CHANDIGARH: A sum of Rs 153.28 crore has been recovered so far from candidates of the fifth Panchayat elections in Haryana with the implementation of eligibility criteria that they should not have an outstanding debt of a cooperative bank or arrears of any electricity bill.

While giving this information, the Minister of State for Cooperation, Bikram Singh Yadav said that of the total amount recovered, the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS) working under Haryana State Cooperative Apex Bank Limited, has recovered Rs 118.70 crore and District Central Cooperative Bank (DCCB) recovered Rs 11.37 crore.

Similarly, the Haryana State Cooperative Agriculture And Rural Development Bank Limited, Panchkula has so far recovered Rs 23.21 crore.

He said during the period between the start of election process and the postponement of the Panchayat elections in September, the Haryana State Co-operative Agriculture and Rural Development Bank Limited, Panchkula had recovered Rs 30.20 crore.

Later, with the resumption of the election process after the Supreme Court verdict, Rs 23.21 crore have been recovered between December 20 and January 7, Yadav added.

The fifth Panchayat elections will be held in Haryana on January 10, 17 and 24.
