Row in West Bengal Assembly over anti-chit fund bill
KOLKATA: The Opposition Left Front today created ruckus in the West Bengal Assembly demanding tabling of an anti-chit fund bill in the House.

Leader of Opposition Surjya Kanta Mishra sought an adjournment motion in this regard but Speaker Biman Banerjee did not allow it.

Angry with it, the Left MLAs raised slogans and started protesting in the well of the House for around 20 minutes till the end of the first session.

Later on, Mishra told reporters that President Pranab Mukherjee has given his assent to West Bengal Protection of Interest of Depositors in Financial Establishments Bill, 2013 but the state government has failed to table it in the House.

"Why is the bill lying for a long time? This should become a law as the President has cleared it. It is a secret why are they not moving forward with the bill," the CPI(M) leader said, adding, that the Speaker is not even allowing any discussion in the House on this.

He said that the party is demanding that those who lost their money in chit fund deposits should get refunds.
