KOLKATA : Taking a step forward in its probe into Rose Valley group, the Enforcement directorate today arrested Amit Banerjee, general
secretary of Rose Valley group Agents network. Banerjee is facing charges of money laundering and intimidating the witnesses.
According to the ED sources, Banerjee has not been cooperating with the investigation. Moreover, he is continuing with the money collection scheme even after Rose Valley CMD Gautam Kundu was arrested. Kundu was arrested in March. The sources further added that Banerjee was collecting money from people through debenture schemes and repaying the depositors who lodged complaint of non-payment.
During the course of investigation, it is revealed that Banerjee siphoned a huge amount of depositors' money . He filed an income tax return worth Rs 1 crore in last financial year. However, the ED officials termed it as the 'tip of iceberg'. After Kundu’s arrest, Banerjee was running the show in the name of Rose Valley group and continuing with the money collection schemes.
